Otavalo, Ecuador. Beautiful art, beautiful people
I met Dianna at one of the stalls with Yerick, 5 months old, bundled up cozily on her back with a traditional cloth carrier. So much hair! He reminded of my baby at that age. We ended up buying a bunch of nicely designed and quality shirts from them. Dianna is wearing indigenous clothing: beaded necklace, brightly embroidered top, traditional skirt and shoes, hair adornments. There were so many people wearing traditional clothing in this area, I wish I could have captured more of the intricate details. Many of the men also had beautifully thick long hair as well and dressed in traditional clothing. We did find a store that was selling high quality clothing, shoes, dresses, pants, belts, hair wraps. We got some hair wraps for the girls.
Here is the store with some of the intricate embroidery found on the traditional clothing. Check out those belts and beaded necklaces.

It was really nice to meet Jose selling his original indigenous art. I really liked his mixture of materials, colors, and representation of our people and world. I ended up buy 4 of his his pieces.
